Also, you have the opportunity to adjust your image in mid-air if needed.
This can be helpful if you feel like you will miss the shot or the defender is contesting your shot.
The main downside to jumping during a free throw is that it is much harder to control your body and the ball when you are in the air. This means that there is a greater chance of missing the shot.
If you don’t practice jumping free throws, you are more likely to miss than make the shot.
How To Practice Your Free Throws

When shooting free throws, it is vital to use a consistent routine (doing the same thing each time you hit the ball).
This could include bouncing the ball a certain number of times, taking a deep breath, or anything else that helps you feel comfortable and confident when shooting.

I recommend staying low as much as you can on the ground. Why?
It gives you better control over your shot, and also, it’ll make it harder for the other team to block your shot.
Being low to the ground gives your opponents less time to react and block your shot.
2. Keep Your Eye On The Ball
Focusing on the ball is one of the most critical techniques in making a free throw. How?
You need to keep your eye on the ball from when you pick it up until you release it. In case you take your look off the ball, you will likely miss the shot even for a second.
3. Focus On Where You Want The Ball To Go
After you have picked up the ball and are looking at it, you need to focus on where you want it to end up.
If you are unsure about the ball, missing the shot increases.
Before starting your shot, you should know exactly where you want the ball to go.
4. Extend Your Hands And Arms While Shooting
I always focus on my hands and arms extension to avoid any kind of mistake.
And keep my body one line from head to toes.
Similarly, you have to plant your feet on the ground and extend your arms while shooting. This will help you generate more power and also maintain accuracy.
5. Bounce The Ball Before Shooting
Bouncing the ball before shooting is essential for two reasons:
